Despite the fact that at US Vogue, year-on-year ad sales were reported to be down 26% during H1 2009, the hype behind the release of The September Issue this month and Wintour's subsequent promo for it, as well as her role setting up the Fashion's Night Out event worldwide, gives her the editor's crown.
