Style Du Jour: Kim Kardashian

Last week I took a look at Kate Moss’ style- this week I want to give stylicious props to Kim Kardashian. My fav reality star! (I swear this chick is black lol)

With a BANGING body, Kim continues to amaze me with her simple but VERY chic fashion choices. I like Kim’s style because it’s very much like my own, minus the Loubies, Balencia bags, Chanel clutches, YSL tribute pumps, and beautiful expensive dresses…. I’m a simple girl but I still come across chic.  Kim’s can make a pair of jeans and a blazer look so chic and Very sexy.

But to our surprise, Kim shops at H&M for clothes and Forever 21 for her accessories.

Take a look at some of my favorite looks of her from red carpet events, to night on the town, to pumping gas….

Kim has been working this strong trend we witnessed on the runways lately, the asymmetrical look. This look is one of those oldie but goodie trends- but Kim rocks it well. The asymmetrical look is very sexy- remember ladies the shoulders get love too! Being sexy doesn’t mean to show off the twins or hiking the skirt up to your… well you know what…. Lol

Kim loves her LBD dress, but what makes every LDB debut different from the last- the silhouette. Ladies try to not opt of the same LDB silhouette. Switch it up- go for one shoulder, Tube dress, Sweet-heart neckline, Long, Short,… well you get my drift.

Kims loves her white dress, I was never a fan of white dresses, but Kim makes me re-think. Not saying I will opt for a white dress, but I will no longer turn them down without a try.

Every woman should own a black blazer. It screams chic and you can pair your blazer with ANYTHING and the result is Uber dopeness.

Do you guys like Kim K's Style??
Which one is your favorite look?

Stylistos: Geek Chic

I'm actually very proud of myself.  Instead of doing my picture postings in PowerPoint- or posting each picture individually- I upgraded to learning Microsft Paint.  I feel I just tossed out my crayons and construction paper for some sketch paper and color pencils! hahaha.

I was sick of the juvenile pic postings I was given yall!!!... See I love my readers! You guys deserve nothing but the best.

Next self tutorial- Illustrator!... YIKES!!! That's when I will be POPPIN!!!!

Newho.... today I was exploring the wonderful world of Geek Chic.  This is a movement that we’ve seen come alive across both genders.  We've seen it a lot express by Hollywood Actors, but thanks to Pharell, Andre 3Stacks and Kanye- the hip hoppers and R&B cats are rocking it too.

Last week I was browsing the blogs and seen Bobby V was catching some slack on his Geek Chic style- I actually LOVED how he looked.  I dont think he was trying too hard to get the look, it actually looks very balanced and natural.

He opted for a sweater vest- verses the cardy and substituted a regular tie for a bow tie.  I like the mix pattern of the button up and plaid tie.  This balanced his look.  I like the choice of a solid vest.  It calmed his mix match patterns.

Well done Bobby! :)

You can substitute your cardy for a vest.  It's equally cute.  Finding a cute print Vest will add personality to your geek chic Style.  I love the "Life Guard" vest from Ralph Laruen.  A Button vest is a great choice as well.  It gives your look a laid back feel.

I do not see too many people rocking the suspenders to execute their geek chic look.  Maybe you guys should try it.  Andre 3000 is a suspender rocker and he kills it every time- use Andre 3stacks for inspiration.

Of course the Collegiate look Cardy is the right move.  Rugby is a great source to get your collegiate style cardigan.  I went to Rugby and customized this great navy blue cardigan with my BF's initials.  How cute is that???....  You do not necessarily have to pair your cardy with a button up, you can layer it with a v-neck tee or crew neck tee.

The Bow-Tie is very tricky- not everyone can pull this off.  But I love pattern ties.  The skull heads on the RL bow tie is the cutest.  Try to find fun stripes, eye popping colors or cool polka dots.  When executing the bow-tie try not to take yourself too seriously.  Last week I was meeting a good friend of mine (His name is Jason- Dope Boys check is Blog out) and he paired his Bow Tie with a mix match pattern button up and a worn/washed Aerocrombie pull over hoodie.  VERY DOPE!

Last but not least, that Urkel Glasses.  My fav are the Cazals.  I have a pair and I LOVE THEM!!! As of right now, the dark lens are in, but as it gets cold I always change the lens back to clear.  I love the oversize, but you do not have to choose the oversize to get the look, a great small frame can definitely take you there as well.

Fellas are you into the Geek Chic movement?

I always say try something once, you do not have to adopt that into your everyday style- but switching it up is always cool!

Eye Candy: Leather Top

I was over at Polyvore creating some sets and it was almost love at first sight!

Ladies if you are into the rocker chic movement like I am, leather is a MAJOR factor when trying to complete the look

The Millaird Leather top by Noir was originally $1,600 but now on sale for $215.00.  Wheeeww more like it.  Though you could prob purchase some leather (Harry Sheep leather) Scive it and drape it how you want, this top is still a beauty!

I just hit you with some Coach lingo... POW!!!! hahah

Fashion Online Run-In: Solo's Embellished Tights

I'm not a HUGE fan of leggings. I occasionally throw them on, but I do not knock the girl who loves leggings. I've seen stylistas serve it on a platinum platter with leggings on. I’ve actually been looking for a cool pair. I must admit I do like the liquid looking leggings- but some girls have really dragged that to the ground where I'm not even interested anymore.

I do LOVE Solo's neon embellished leggings she wore in her HoneyMag photo Shoot last month.

I spotted these daring digs from the Christopher Kane collection at Top Shop.

Styling Tips:  I always say take a trend and own it.  The great way to wear leggings is paring your leggings with a dope jacket, or a textured jacket (like Solo's faux fur- yes Solo's fit is outrageous because it's for a photo shoot, however paring your simple tights with a textured jacket will turn your simple outfit to chic)
Another tip- if you go for a not so simple legging, try to play your fit down with a simple top and blazer- with high boots.

Are you ladies into the legging trend?

Magazine Madness: FRENCH VOGUE HAS TO CHILL!

Ok Ok OK the fashion master minds are taking it a bit far now.
In the October Issue of French Vogue you will flip to see very disturbing pictures of a white model with a "blackface"- this is not art- it’s TASTELESS AND TACKY.

I normally keep my opionions to myself, and do not get all political... but this raised my eyebrow!!!

This is nothing but a desperate call for readers.  Whatever happened to creating beautiful Photo Shoots and stimulating articles?  Painting a white woman’s face and saying it’s art is absolutely ridiculous.

Some people may look at as art but it’s definitely all wrong!!!!

If you wanted to portray a black model- USE A BLACK MODEL! LOL

This is a magazine known for their controversial spreads…

There is a huge lack of opportunity for black models these days- and this article further confirms this.  It sends the wrong message for black models, and black french models.  It suggests that "we" are not good enough- I wonder if the whole issue have any black models in it?? I will never purchase a copy- but I do want to take a browse to see..

The French doesn’t share the same history as in the Unitied States, but there is no excuse.

Carine Roitfeld (The French Anna Wintour) should be on time out- sat in the corner with one of those “stupid” cone hats on!!

I’m offended!
It’s not even a beautiful shot the fits SUCK!!

What do you think readers- fellas chime in- I want to hear your thoughts as well.

These are my thoughts- and I'm entitled to my opinion- and so are you! :)

Pucker Up!: Rich Lips

For the fall, swap your summer gloss for something a bit richer and more moisturizing. As seen in Rachel Roy and Jason Wu, the deep lip is all the rage. Almost every beauty line unveiled thier fall trend beauty looks which feature some of the most beautiful, sexy, glamorous and yummy shades for the lips. From the mulberry color seen in Nars to the chocolate and plums in the Chanel winter collection. Because these shades can be a bit more dramatic for the lipstick rookies, a great way to introduce them into your make-up routine would be to craete a stain.

A stain is more of a wash of color on the lips that has great staying power. To achieve it, you just want to apply the lip color straight from the tube, grab a paper towel (regular tissue will leave those bits behind) and blot. This will remove some of the lipstick, but still alow you to see a bit of color.

If you love the deep lip trend and want to go for it 100%, first; fill in the lips with a lip liner in a similiar shade. The liner will act as an adhesive, giving you a much longer wear. I would reccomend using a lip brush to apply the color because richer colors should look precise and polished. Remember, dry, cracked lips ar a big NO NO so be sure to use a lip balm/lip conditioner before attempting any of these lip looks. The lips should be the star of your face. Keep the rest of the face soft; think: bedroom eyes or just a swipe of eyeliner and mascara.

Chanel Noirs Obcurs Collection for Winter 2009
*These shades give a pure, rich color payoff. Pair with a complimentary lip liner for maximum staying power. Shades in these color families would look great with a charcoal grey, wool ensemble!

NARS Fast Ride Lipstick
*Although it looks intense in the tube, this is actually a sheer deep plum shade. Because it's a bit softer in it's application, this would be great for beginners, as well as, good for layering.

MAC Prep + Prime Lip
*Optional, yet really worth it! A lip primer is a great partner to the deep lip. Not only will it prevnt feathering (which is more noticeble when using dark colors), but it will act as an additional adhesive for your lip color for even longer wear. Less touch ups...count me in!

Smith's Rosebud Salve
* I'm a sucker for a great lip conditioner, and this one of my FAVS! I'ts cheap, fast absorbing and doesn't have that waxy feel; just soft, healthy looking smackers. PS: rubbing the balm remainder on the cuticles is a great conditioner as well.

Yves Saint Laurent Les Experts Lip Brush
*This retractable brush makes it great for on the go touch ups, and it's small enough to throw in a small clutch for date night.

~Stay classy and fabulous- Your Glam-Puss!
